A bit of history: 10

I awoke in the passenger seat of a traveling U-Haul...

We're moving to Florida where the future is bright in Real Estate.

Mom was driving while brother sat in the middle holding our cat "Spiffy". I was heavily medicated upon discharge, for they expected I would run again. They were right.

Nothing seemed hopeful- including a move to Florida. The thought was extremely upsetting and I was just plain miserable.

I attended about 2 days of High School and that was all. It was now foster homes, detention centers and programs, but only IF I was caught.

All I did was run.

From anywhere, to anywhere at any given time. Happiness was nowhere to be found and misery seemed to follow.

I hitch-hiked all over the country, mostly riding with truckers. I could travel far from the world in those big ole trucks. Untouchable and unnoticed.

All I wanted was to be left alone. To disappear.

Not to be so, though. There were dangers lurking everywhere.

There were rapes, beatings and attempted abductions. I was robbed, horribly abandoned and kept against my will.

Drugs were my diet and disease was my doom, and sadly, nothing improved in "the system".

In foster homes I was molested, probation officers bought me alcohol and cops descriptively cussed.

There was nowhere to go and still I kept going... and going...
and going.
